Good news – Ether 5 have decided not to disband

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

Good news – Ether 5 have decided not to disband. We decided that we like playing too much!

We are concentrating on other projects for a bit though so the next Ether 5 gig won’t be for a while!

However we are unlikely to turn down gig requests so if you really want us to play get in touch.

Massive thanks to everyone for their support last night!

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

Big thanks to everyone who came to support us at the Fox and Newt last night! The money raised went to St George’s Crypt – an organisation which helps homeless people get off the street.
We enjoyed covering The Creeks Conspiracy track. A gentle reminder the Creeks album can be downloaded for free at www.thecreeks.co.uk!

Fantastic Johnny Marr Quote!

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

10 Ways to Avoid Becoming a Guitar Hero: (As Marr called it)

  1. Quit a wildly successful band and turn down offers from other successful bands for musical reasons.
  2. Avoid solos whenever possible.
  3. Play few single-note passages.
  4. Put songs before showmanship.
  5. Don’t clutter your records, even if it means laying out.
  6. Be subtle in your innovations: Don’t pose with a four-necked guitar; instead concentrate on offbeat harmonic ideas, unusual tunings, weirdo chord voicings, and finely detailed accompaniment.
  7. Paint with a feather, not a firehose.
  8. Cite unfashionable influences.
  9. Violate pop music conventions whenever possible.
  10. Denounce guitar heroism loudly and frequently.

Foxy Newt

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Ether 5 have a gig at the Fox and Newt in Leeds! We have been asked to fill an hour with our atmospheric shoegazer prog!

We are on stage about 9pm sharp!

@NMEmagazine Fact of the day:
The term Shoegazer was coined by Morrissey back in the day. Apparently he was quite rude about them…

Withdrawn too soon…

*Ahem*

We are NOT able to play the Battle of the Bands at the Black Bull in Castleford on the 22nd April. There are still some fantastic bands playing so it is still worth going! Keep checking Vince’s FB page for details!
